Dr. Julia

Dr. Julia Martorana BA, BSc., DC, graduated from Northwestern College of Chiropractic in 1997 with her Doctorate in Chiropractic and a Bachelors of Science in Human Biology. In 1992, Dr. Julia completed a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Psychology and a minor in Sociology from the University of Manitoba. In 1997, Dr. Julia received her certification in Chiropractic Radiology from Northwestern College of Chiropractic, and earned a Certificate of Competency in the use of Radiographic Facilities and Equipment. Dr. Julia is enrolled as a member of the British Columbia College of Chiropractor, British Columbia Chiropractic Association and Board of Chiropractic Examiners in the State on Minnesota, and a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Upon graduation, Dr. Julia practiced in Minneapolis, Minnesota in a high volume clinic. It was here that she had the opportunity to work with professional athletes. Dr. Julia dedicated a large part of her practice to athletes and sport-related injuries and worked with families, children, and infants. In 2000, she relocated to Victoria, BC, where she opened a multi-doctor, multi-disciplinary clinic. During the past 20 years, Dr. Julia has operated a high volume practice focusing on evaluating and treating musculoskeletal related conditions, sports injuries, rehabilitation, injury management and prevention. During this time, Dr. Julia has completed numerous seminars including Dr. Stuart McGill's Low Back Seminar and Somatic Senses Shoulder Rehabilitation. Dr. Julia is also the proud mother of the worlds cutest and smartest daughter, Lola!

Dr. Melissa

Dr. Melissa Ko, DC joined the Back to Back team in 2015. She graduated from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Science and also has a Diploma in Music from the Royal Conservatory of Music. She completed her Chiropractic studies at the University of West States and participated in a chiropractic mission trip to Haiti and the Dominican Republic. In her spare time away from work she loves travelling, trying new exotic foods and outdoor activities on the water. Seminars she has attended include, chronic pain management, perinatal care, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, and she enjoys treating all age groups throughout the community.

Dr. Amy

Dr. Amy Samcoe, DC grew up in Victoria and now enjoys living in the Westshore with her husband and three kids. She graduated from CMCC in Toronto in 2009 and has been practicing at Back to Back since she returned to the area in 2015. Areas of further study include courses on chronic pain, headaches, low back pain, pre and post natal care and children. Dr. Amy enjoys treating a wide variety of issues and is here to help you on your health journey!

Dr. Jordan

Dr. Jordan uses a variety of techniques to provide comprehensive treatment plans that focus on treating the entire body to not only resolve pain and prevent relapses, but also to help prevent future injuries. He achieves this by identifying any structural imbalances, biomechanical abnormalities or muscle weaknesses that may be contributing to the source of pain. The treatment techniques used by Dr. Jordan include Chiropractic Manipulative Therapy, Soft Tissue Therapies, rehabilitation exercises, cupping and a variety of other evidence based modalities. By taking a full body treatment approach he helps provide his patients the opportunity to take back their life without the fear of reinjuring themselves! Dr. Jordan has a special interest in working with pregnant patients, using Webster Technique. This technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment that reduces nervous system stress, balances pelvic bones, muscles and ligaments and optimizes pelvic function in pregnancy and birth. It is a proven and effective treatment technique to help alleviate pain caused by pregnancy to allow the birthing process to be more enjoyable. When Dr. Jordan isn’t at the clinic you’ll find him anywhere outdoors where he enjoys hiking, camping, paddleboarding and keeping active with his dog! He also loves sports and actively plays hockey, tennis, and golf.

Dr. Liz

Dr. Elizabeth Hein, DC completed her studies at the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon receiving her Doctorate in Chiropractic and Bachelors degree in Human Biology. Since graduating and joining the Back to Back family, Dr. Liz has honed her skills with treating sports related injuries, rehabilitation, and injury prevention. Dr. Liz has a particular interest in treating extremity injuries (shoulder, knees, ankles), as she finds these can be the most difficult injuries to overcome. Dr. Liz takes a progressive approach to pain and injury through evidence-based practice with incorporating soft tissue therapy and exercise rehabilitation programs to her care. She uses a variety of techniques depending on what her patients need, such as instrument assisted soft tissue therapy, cupping, taping, shockwave therapy, and Venus Heal therapy. She takes pride in treating all sorts of patients, ranging from high level athletes, to weekend warriors and families. When not in the clinic, you can find Dr. Liz hiking with her dog, Poppy, surfing in Tofino, or taking road trips over the long weekend.

Dr. Emily

Dr. Emily Hein DC, Graduated from the University of Victoria with a BSc. in Biology. After this she went and completed her chiropractic studies at Western States Chiropractic College in Portland Oregon in June 2021 with her twin sister, Dr. Elizabeth. Following graduation, she interned in downtown Victoria where she met and treated a variety of patients. This is where Dr. Emily also honed her skills and interest in treating patients with a neuromechanical instrument, as well as adjusting, providing rehabilitation exercises, cupping, and performing soft tissue massage. She has always had an interest and passion in helping people as well as writing, reading and hiking with her dog Lola.
