Dr. Julia Martorana BA, BSc., DC, graduated from Northwestern College of Chiropractic in 1997 with her Doctorate in Chiropractic and a Bachelors of Science in Human Biology. In 1992, Dr. Julia completed a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Psychology and a minor in Sociology from the University of Manitoba. In 1997, Dr. Julia received her certification in Chiropractic Radiology from Northwestern College of Chiropractic, and earned a Certificate of Competency in the use of Radiographic Facilities and Equipment. Dr. Julia is enrolled as a member of the British Columbia College of Chiropractor, British Columbia Chiropractic Association and Board of Chiropractic Examiners in the State on Minnesota, and a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Upon graduation, Dr. Julia practiced in Minneapolis, Minnesota in a high volume clinic. It was here that she had the opportunity to work with professional athletes. Dr. Julia dedicated a large part of her practice to athletes and sport-related injuries and worked with families, children, and infants. In 2000, she relocated to Victoria, BC, where she opened a multi-doctor, multi-disciplinary clinic. During the past 20 years, Dr. Julia has operated a high volume practice focusing on evaluating and treating musculoskeletal related conditions, sports injuries, rehabilitation, injury management and prevention. During this time, Dr. Julia has completed numerous seminars including Dr. Stuart McGill's Low Back Seminar and Somatic Senses Shoulder Rehabilitation.
Dr. Julia is also the proud mother of the worlds cutest and smartest little girl, Lola!
Dr. Cindy Matthew
Dr. Cindy graduated in 1997 from Northwestern Health Sciences at the University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Growing up in Manitoba, she decided to relocate to beautiful BC and fulfill a long time dream. She started building her practice in Victoria in 1998 and joined the Back to Back team in 2000. Dr. Cindy has attended multiple seminars with an interest in various soft tissue techniques and most recently the Chronic Pain Management Seminar through Pain BC. When she is not helping patients, she is out enjoying our beautiful city with her young daughter and husband. You may also catch her hiking a local trail or find her exploring her new passion/obsession with gardening. After a few years focused on family, she returned to us in the Fall of 2018 and is excited to resume her practice and help patients with chiropractic needs and health goals.
Dr. Melissa Ko
Dr. Melissa joined the Back to Back team in 2015. She graduated from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Science and also has a Diploma in Music from the Royal Conservatory of Music. She completed her Chiropractic studies at the University of West States and participated in a chiropractic mission trip to Haiti and the Dominican Republic. In her spare time away from work she loves travelling, trying new exotic foods and outdoor activities on the water. Seminars she has attended include, chronic pain management, perinatal care, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, and she enjoys treating all age groups throughout the community.
Dr. Robin Dunkley
Dr. Robin Dunkley, DC graduated from the University of Victoria with a BSc. in Psychology (Hon). She completed her chiropractic studies at Western States Chiropractic College. Following graduation, she interned in Lima, Peru, where she encountered a variety of unique patients and refined her Spanish communication skills. Upon her return to North America, she worked in a busy rehabilitation clinic to patients who had been involved in motor vehicle accidents, work related incidents and who had sustained sports injuries. Dr. Robin then returned to BC where she worked as a locum for several months prior to moving to Ireland to continue chiropractic care in a family practice. She has a particular interest in treating sports injuries as she is an avid runner and has participated in several triathlons. She has completed 3 marathons and most recently finished a half ironman. She enjoys working with a diverse population of athletes and families, from weekend warriors to more competitive athletes.
Dr. Amy Samcoe
Dr. Amy Graduated from McGill University in 2003 with an BA in International Development studies (Hons). Fueled with a great desire to help people, she found a passionate outlet in Chiropractic while working as a chiropractic assistant. As a drugless and hands-on treatment option that could benefit so many at home and abroad, it was a perfect fit!
Dr. Amy attended the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto and graduated in 2009, with Clinic Honors. She did her internship at two clinics in order to gain experience with a wide range of people and health issues. She joined the Back to Back team for her first year in practice.
For the next five years, Dr. Amy moved throughout Canada to support her husbands dream of becoming an M.D. With the ultimate goal of returning back to the Island, she provided locum services while her husband attended Medical School. One of the benefits of so much travel was being able to meet and work with a number of practitioners with just as many treatment styles to learn from.
Three kids and many provinces later, Dr. Amy is back to her hometown and is happy to serve the local community and assist them with their health goals.
Dr. Samantha Partridge
Dr. Samantha joined the Back to Back team in 2019, and is passionate about getting you healthy and moving well. She uses a movement centered approach and rehabilitative exercise in addition to soft tissue and joint manipulation to get you back to doing what you enjoy. In addition to helping with various musculoskeletal complaints, Dr. Samantha has a special interest in pregnancy care including pre and post partum. She has completed extra training in this area and is certified in the Webster Technique.
